Tips and Techniques for your
Domain Names for SEO
A domain name is the most important factor in the search engines choosing of you for relevance on a specific search. All things being equal a domain name that exactly matches the searched keywords will be on top.
Many will choose a domain name that matches their business name. If for branding purposes this is necessary then go for it. Other considerations such as content and back links may be enough to carry the day for you. But, if you have any flexibility here, consider an exact match to one of your keywords as the domain name. If those domain names are taken, as they often are, consider an extension of the keywords adding text such as location for a local business. For example www.largedogs.com is taken but www.largedogsofsmallville.com is available.
Take your time searching for domains. If the domain is available now it will likely be available tomorrow. In the mean time you can bounce the names off of others. Ideally the domain will have in it the keywords you are optimizing for; be short; be easy to spell; and is memorable.
Don't be in a rush to create the domain name. With Intuit websites and most hosting environments you will have a temorary site name that you can use during construction of the site. You can safely start building the site content.
